55, Whitney Pier

It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Debra ‘Debbie’ Deveaux on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Sydney, Debbie was the daughter of the late Leonard ‘Bill’ and Margaret (Epifano) Fernandes.

Family was everything to Debbie. She was a member of Holy Redeemer parish. Debbie will be remembered by family and friends for being caring and set in her ways.

Debbie is survived by her loving family, husband, Terry Deveaux; children, Rikki (Melissa), Natalie (Charles) Hopkins, Terrilynn and Kelsey; and granddaughters, Jamie Lynn, Ella, and Katie; brothers, Paul, and Glen Fernandes; sister, Gail Fernandes; as well as several in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and very close friends.

Visitation for the late Debra ‘Debbie’ Deveaux will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Tuesday, June 25, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at 11 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Church with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Debbie may be made to Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County, VON Canada or Cape Breton Cancer Patient Care Fund.

At this time, the Deveaux family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the doctors and nurses for their professional and tender care of Debbie in her time of need.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
