82, Big Baddeck

We, the family, are saddened to announce the passing of ‘Eddie’ on April 22, 2012. He died peacefully at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck, surrounded by his family.

Eddie was the youngest son of the late W.W. and Melissa (Watson) Nicholson. He was born and raised on the family farm in Big Baddeck, where he spent most of his life farming. Family was always his passion, and over the last few years Eddie created a terrific family history, compiling a huge amount of genealogy into a comprehensive book. Eddie will be sorely missed by his family and many, many friends.

Eddie is survived by Mora, his wife of 57 years and his two sons, Roderick (Maria) and Angus (Janie). He leaves behind five grandchildren, James, Neal, Melissa, Sara and Daniel. Also missing him will be his sister, Jean Chabassol; his sisters-in-law, Anna Nicholson and Jean Thayer; his brother-in-law, Eric Kipping; numerous nieces and nephews and his good friend, Gary.

He was predeceased by his parents; by his two brothers, Frank and Billy and by his three sisters, Helen, Alice and Girlie (Isobel).

At this time, we would like to thank everyone for the support and care given to Eddie over the last few months, during his illness. Additional thanks must go to the home care staff, and the doctors and nurses at Victoria County Memorial Hospital – you are all the best!

Funeral service and reception for Eddie are set for mid-May, with specific date and time to be announced.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Send an online condolence.
