It is with sadness that we, the family announce the passing of Victor Jean Camus on Jan. 4, 2012 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born on Sept. 7, 1930, Victor was the son of the late Eusebe and Katie (LaPierre) Camus.

Victor was a member of St. Peter’s Church, Cheticamp. He lived most of his life in Ontario working for Alcan Aluminum Company. After Victor retired, he moved back home to spend the last of his senior years in Cheticamp.

Victor is survived by a daughter, Mary Lou (Don) Wood, New Market, Ont.; grandchildren, Ana and Adam; brother, Simon (Beulah), Calgary, Johnny (Agnes), Sydney, Eddie Joe (Annie Mae) and Daniel (Corrine), both in Cheticamp, and Lionel, Brampton, Ont.; sisters, Marie Agnes (Jeff) Jeffers, California, Annie Rose (Albert) Bourgeois, Brantford, Ont., Catherine (Edgar) Larade, Halifax, and Elizabeth (Armie) Larade, Brampton, Ont.; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Victor was predeceased by his wife, Marion (McCaslin); brother, Joseph; and sisters, Marie Jessie and Cecile Therese.

A private family memorial service to celebrate the life of Victor Jean Camus will take place on Tues., January 10, 2012 with Fr. Peter LeBlanc officiating. Interment will take place in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Cheticamp.

Donations in memory of Victor may be made to Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

At this time, the family would like to thank the I.C.U. staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for the care they gave to Victor. We also thank Fr. Everett MacDow for the prayers and kind words.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
