Edwardsville
July 15, 1950 – November 28, 2025
Allan Stanley Lewis, lovingly known to many as ‘Squigy’, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by love and memories that will be cherished forever.
Allan was a natural storyteller with a true gift for conversation—never at a loss for words and always ready with a laugh, a story, or a good bit of friendly banter. Music was close to his heart, and he especially loved playing guitar, often sharing that passion with those around him.
Allan found peace and happiness camping in East Tracadie, where simpler moments, good company, and the outdoors brought him the greatest joy. Rarely far from his side was his beloved dog, Allison, who was a constant and loyal companion.
Allan was deeply devoted to his family. He was a proud father to Richie (oldest), Tammy (middle), Darrell (youngest), and Darrell A., and a loving stepfather to John, Marla, Scott, and Jody, in order from oldest to youngest. He took great pride in his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each holding a special place in his heart.
Allan shared his life with his loving wife, Deborah ‘Dee Dee’ Lewis, whose love and companionship meant the world to him. He is also survived by his siblings, Alice Lewis and Hollis Lewis.
Allan was predeceased by his parents, George Valentine and Margaret Lewis, and by brother, George Lewis.
One of Allan’s greatest comforts now is the belief that he has been reunited with his cherished grandson, Corey, who passed away in his twenties. The bond they shared remained strong through time and memory.
Allan ‘Squigy’ Lewis will be remembered for his big heart, quick wit, love of music, and the way he made people feel welcome and heard. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit lives on in the stories, songs, and laughter he leaves behind.
Visitation to celebrate the life of Allan Lewis will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Thursday, December 4, 2025. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Francis Room.
Donations in memory of Allan may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
