Howie Centre

It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Wilma Anne MacInnis, of Howie Centre, who left this world peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit, just days shy of her 81st birthday.

Born in Sydney, on November 12, 1944, Wilma was the beloved daughter of the late Sandy and Isabel MacInnis. She was predeceased by her parents, but her memory will live on through her family and friends who cherished her dearly.

Wilma is survived by her son, Billy MacKinnon (Jill Brewer) of Marble Mountain, and her daughter, Nadine Radtke (Don) of Kingston, Ontario. She was a proud grandmother to Will, Josh, Kayla, Travis (Crystal), Brandon (Chelsea), Nathan (Kaitlyn), and Heather (Matt), and a loving great-grandmother to little Ivy, who brought her immense joy.

Wilma’s life was marked by sharp wit, resilience, and a gift for connecting with people. She worked for several years as a bartender, where she formed many lasting friendships and became known for her welcoming spirit and sense of humor.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to her niece, Velma Leslie, for her unwavering dedication, countless visits, and the many hours spent at Wilma’s bedside over the past three months. Special thanks are also given to Dr. Buhariwalla, and to the compassionate nursing staff of Unit 4B and the Palliative Care Unit, whose care and kindness brought comfort during her final days.

Wilma’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and friendship. She will be remembered for her generosity, her strength, and the way she touched the lives of everyone she met.

Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Wilma MacInnis will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd.
