George Ramsey of Sydney passed away on Sunday evening, October 19, 2025, surrounded by his family at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
George was born in Brampton, Ontario but lived most of his life in Whitney Pier and Sydney. George was a graduate of Riverview Rural High School and Cape Breton University. He worked in the call center industry on various accounts and was still working at MCI-The Sydney Call Centre at the time of his passing.
George loved movies, especially horror films, music, and games of all varieties. He enjoyed sharing movies, sports nights, and BBQs with his close friends, and spent many happy weekends playing board games and RPGs with his Sydney Mines family and friends.
George was predeceased by his parents, Ronald and Jean Ramsey.
George is survived by his sister, Jenny (Scott) Ramsey of Medicine Hat, Alberta and his niece, Erin. He also leaves behind his aunt, Margaret Ramsey of North Sydney; uncles, Carl Ramsey, North Sydney and Glen (Royce) Ramsey, Halifax. George is also remembered and loved by his many cousins, friends, and other family members.
Memorial service to celebrate the life of George Ramsey will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Lori Ramsey officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.

Donations in memory of George may be made to Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton or the Canadian Cancer Society.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

I only met George maybe once or twice, but he was a very kind, gentle, quiet man. He was well liked by those that knew him and a good friend. So very sorry for your loss. I hope all his family and friends can find comfort in the happy memories you shared with him.
