Sydney
On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, our world changed forever as we said goodbye to our Dad and Poppy, Frank MacPhee passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his family.
Frank was the son of Frank and Clothilda (Bruce) MacPhee of the Shipyard area.
Frank will be deeply missed by his only daughter, Barbara Ann and son, Ian Kenzie (Kelly), whom he resided with. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Jordan, Bhreagh and Breanne. Frank is also survived by his sisters, Marie MacNeil, Ontario, Peggy, Mabou, and Sally (Raymond) Hooper, Sydney; sister-in-law, Joan MacPhee; brother-in-law, Willie Fraser; mother of his children, Darlene Muise and his faithful companion, Cooper. He was affectionately known to his nieces and nephews as ‘Uncle Fudd’.
Later in life, Frank spent many years in St. Francis Harbour with his once companion, Joan (Grady) Meagher, her children, Mike (Kristi), Maurice (Wendy) and Theresa Mae (Ian). He was also Poppy to Grady, Madeline, Wesley, Isobel, McKenna, Miles Emma and Poppy; as well as many nieces and nephews from the country.
Besides his parents, Frank is predeceased by his sons, Frank Jr. and Bradley; brothers, Daniel and John Kendall; sisters, Florence, Sr. Helen, CND, Mary and Monica; sister-in-law, Mary Lou (Binns) MacPhee; bothers-in-law, Nick MacDonald, Gordie Wambolt and Barney MacNeil.
Frank was a long-time member of the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 682. He was respected in his trades of steam fitting and plumbing. Frank worked from Cape Breton to Fort MacMurray, Alberta.
Frank was an amazing man. His heart and soul were large and full of giving and wonder. Frank never lost his desire to be creative and explore like a child, and he was capable of achieving anything he put his mind to. He could make amazing things with nothing.
There will be no visitation for the late Frank MacPhee. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 10 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Donations in memory of Frank may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
