Albert Bridge
It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Caroline Catherine MacIntyre, age 79, announce her passing on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Victoria Haven, Glace Bay. Caroline passed peacefully with loving family and friends by her side.
Born in Francois, Newfoundland, Caroline was the daughter of the late Rosanna and Benjamin Fudge of Louisbourg. She was a woman of many talents whose creativity shone through quilting, knitting, painting, and cooking. Her adventurous spirit and love of conversation meant she spent countless hours catching up with friends and family. You could count on Caroline’s laughter and smile to light up a room. Her faith was her strength, carrying her through challenges with grace. The deep love Caroline had for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was always clear in her eyes and in her words.
Caroline is survived by her daughter, Sarah (Harry) LaCosta; and was Nana to, Brian Tilley, Victoria and Alexandra Budgell, Daniel, Kendall, and Madison LaCosta; great-grandchildren, Harrison and Emma LaCosta and Coleman Budgell; brother, Benny Fudge; sister-in-law, Mora Estabrooks; brother-in-law, Leo Carter; son-in-law, Bruce Budgell Jr.; aunt, Winnie Barter; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins who supported her in recent years.
Beside her parents, Caroline was predeceased by her husband, of 61 years, Donald ‘Sander’; daughter, Linda; brothers, Harold, Wallace George (infancy) and sister, Edith.
Safe to say, Caroline finally checked into her forever room, and I doubt she arrived quietly with that crew waiting for her. She’s pain-free, worry-free, and reunited. Most likely, Caroline is catching Linda and Edith up on all the gossip.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Cape Breton Home Care, the assisted living staff at Parkland, Victoria Haven, and the many neighbors and friends, who offered their kindness and care.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life for the late Caroline MacIntyre will be held at a later date in Union Presbyterian Church, Albert Bridge, with Rev. Lydia MacKinnon officiating.
Donations in memory of Caroline may be made to Union Presbyterian Church, Albert Bridge.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
“In my father’s house are many rooms… I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.” — John 14:2–3

Aunt Caroline’s will be deeply missed by family and friends
We have known Caroline since our Wabush days where we shared many meals and many evenings of fun and laughter with her and Don. My Christmas tree is adorned with some of hers and Linda’s beautiful decorations every year. My boys, also, have ornaments from their childhood that both have made.
We were so happy to have her spend time with us when she visited Newfoundland several years ago with the other two Golden Girls.
We extend our sincerest sympathy to Sarah and all of Caroline’s family. May the memories you have made together warm your heart and make you smile.
