Sydney

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved father, Frank Xavier MacAdam, on Monday, October 20, 2025, at the age of 81.

Frank was born in Sydney, on September 13, 1944, to the late Allan Joseph ‘A J’ and Noreen MacAdam.

Besides his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cheryl ‘Okie’; brothers, Bill Myatt, Allan MacAdam, and sisters, Noreen MacPhee and Patricia MacAdam.

Frank is survived by his children, Cheryl (Rozenn), Scott (Elaine), Shaun (Nicole) and Shane; grandchildren, Morgan, Ian, Amy, Kenzie, Cory, Kara, Sidney and siblings, Vernon (Pat), Mary (Ronnie) and Eileen (Ray).

Frank was the fifth child of eight children. He was raised in the North End of Sydney and attended Sydney Academy. After school, he drove the Ideal Ice Cream truck delivering ice cream. Frank then joined the family restaurant, the London Grill, which started his career in the family business, which became Kentucky Fried Chicken, where he was co-owner and operator for over 30 years.

Dad was always known for his generosity in his sponsorship and support of local sports teams. He was an avid Blue Jays fan and would be so proud of their 2025 accomplishment. His favourite hockey team was the Boston Bruins. Frank spent his retirement watching the teams he sponsored and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports as well.

His siblings fondly remember Frank’s welcoming open-door policy, where they shared conversations on world and sport events around a cup of tea. Frank enjoyed cooking Sunday meals for his family, where everybody would gather and catch up.

In his spare time, you could see Frank out walking, enjoying a ‘Tim Hortons’ coffee and talking to friends. His favourite place to walk was to Wenworth park, where he would sit and visit the tree where he and Okie shared special times together. He will be greatly missed by everybody, who knew and loved him.

Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Frank MacAdam will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Monday, October 27, 2025. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 4:30 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Rev. Bill Burke officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Frank’s memory.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
