Sydney
With heavy hearts, the family of Trevor Harcourt Jones announces his passing on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born on September 17, 1958, Trevor grew up surrounded by the love of his large family and the close-knit community of Whitney Pier. Later in life, he was blessed with a second family through the Resi-Care Association on Coady Street, where he was cherished and loved.
Trevor is survived by his siblings, Carolyn Jones, Halifax, Ernie (Joanne) Thomas, Dartmouth, Vivian (Terry) Dixon, Timberlea, and Tracey Thomas, Halifax. He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Michael Jones, Dartmouth, Dr. Leah (Mitchell) Jones-Scott, Halifax, Jason (Kendra) Gannon, Scarborough, Tyson (Stephanie) Gannon, Hammonds Plains, Andrey Gannon, Calgary, Jaden Dixon, Timberlea, Paris Dixon, Oakville, and DeCosta Thomas, Halifax, as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Trevor was predeceased by his parents, Lionel and Ismay (Thomas) Jones; sister, Marsha Gannon; brothers, Kenny, Keith Jones, and nephew, Nathanel Thomas-Welsh.
Trevor had many special qualities that made him unforgettable. Known throughout the community, he never went anywhere without being recognized. He had his own unique way of showing affection—from his gentle hugs to the endearing nicknames he gave, such as “badness” among others. With a big heart and a soft spirit, Trevor loved being the center of attention. He was often the life of the party and the first one on the dance floor. He adored country music, the Beverly Hillbillies, and had a sweet tooth for chocolate bars, Diet Pepsi, and McDonald’s—along with a special fondness for Steel City Steakhouse.
Trevor was a 40-year participant of Horizon Achievement Center and will be sadly missed by his housemates at Coady Street and his good friend and neighbor, Rannie MacNeil; as well as the rest of his Resi-Care family.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their excellent care and compassion, which brought great comfort to Trevor and his loved ones.
