The family of John Kenneth Anthony regret to announce his passing on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born on June 14, 1957, in Sydney, John was the son of the late James M. and Mary (Gura) Anthony.
John is survived by siblings, James Robert, Sydney, Kathryn Michelle, Halifax, and Judith, New Glasgow.
John was an avid member of the Cape Breton Astronomy Society and had an exceptional knowledge of the stars and planets. Having a degree in mineral technology, he worked in the oil fields of Alberta as an oil well analyst.
John was a kind and pleasant person depending on the conversation. He always had a love for computers and Andromeda.
Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of John Anthony will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Sunday, December 14, 2025. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 4 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Private family interment will take place at a later date.
Donations in memory of John may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Halifax Infirmary Prosthetics Department.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
