Sydney
It is with profound sadness that we, the family announce the devastating loss of our father, William ‘Bill’ J. Corbett of Whitney Pier. Dad passed away at home on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at the age of 81, after a Warrior -like battle with Cancer.
Dad is survived by his adoring daughters, MaryRose (Dan), and Stacy (Brad); son-in-law, Mark; and by his best friend and partner, Martina Youden and her sons, Buddy and Joey.
Dads memory will be forever etched in the hearts of his beloved grandchildren, Christena (Madeleine), Kaitlyn (Corbin), Shelbie (Ryan), Ryan and Kory; and the sparkle of his eye, his great-grandson, Greyson. Dad will also be missed by Martina’s loving grandchildren, Stacy, Ava, Mason, William and Alice along with the mother of his children, Judy Surette.
Dad is also survived by his brothers and sisters, John, Mary, Brenda, Delores, Gary, Alma, Janice, Gloria, Tony, Terrance and Judy,
Dad was predeceased by our precious sister, Kimberly Lawrence; parents, Alma and Pius Corbett; sister, Patrica Hawco; brothers, Pius, Tom, Robert and brothers-in-law, Mort and Eric.
Dad took an active roll in the lives of all of his grandchildren by teaching them how to fish, finding the greatest joy in hearing them sing, and taking them to the bungalow. Dad had a deep love of music, nature walks, and sharing caramels with his fur baby, Luke.
Most often than not, you would usually find an old Western on the TV at home and Dad was an avid reader of Louis L’Amour. His chuckle was infectious. He will always be remembered for his cheeky smiles and “Doobie Doobie Doo’s”.
The family wants to extend a sincere thank you to his palliative care team with special regards to Linda, for their amazing compassion and care to Bill during his time of need. We also want to thank Martina for the love she gave to our dad. We are forever grateful for how you took such amazing care of him especially in his final days.
Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Dad will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 6 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Father Paul Murphy officiating. A light lunch will be served following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
“Please Lord bless our Father’s precious soul and have mercy on him, keep him in Your shadow until we see them again in the afterlife”
