Sydney
It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of “Our Family Rock”, Patricia ‘Trisha’ Marie Mombourquette, 66, of Sydney, on Sunday, August 10, 2025. Surrounded by her family, she sadly and fearlessly lost her battle to pancreatic cancer.
Trisha was the daughter of the late Alec and Mary Mombourquette. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, graduated from Holy Angel’s High School with a strong catholic faith. She was newly retired from The Cape Breton Regional Housing Authority as a Collections Officer, serving 36 years where her union activism was truly her passion.
Trisha’s whole world revolved around spending time with family, especially on Scotch Hill at her family bungalow in Margaree. She loved taking long drives with her Tim Horton’s tea in hand, collecting sea glass on her favorite shore of Dominion Beach and was always looking for heavenly signs.
Surviving are her cherished children, daughters, Laura Crawley, and Michele (Kyle) Corriveau, Fort McMurray; son, Stephen (Morgan) Romard, Halifax; her greatest pride and joy, her grandchildren, Chloe (12), Hunter (11), Jack (1), and Stevie (1).
Trisha was also survived by her brother, Paul (Colleen) Mombourquette, and her sister, Jean (Ron) Kirby, who was simply her other half. Jean’s strength and courage carried her through her toughest times and remained by her side through it all.
A quote she lived by each, and every day was “Mother’s hold their children’s hand for just a moment but will live in their hearts for a lifetime”.
Visitation for the late Patricia Mombourquette will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) from 9-10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025. Memorial Mass will be celebrated in Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier, on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Donations in memory of Patricia may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

I was shocked to hear iof Trisha’s passing. We worked together for many years but in our union work we really got to know each other, from all nighters at negotiation tables to sitting in the back seat of a police car in Halifax asking the officer to turn on the sirens. Good memories should always be passed on. We had some adventures. Your mom has a heart for the people. I don’t say had.. Heart work carries on.
Our condolences on the passing of your sister. 🕊️ 🙏🏻

It breaks my heart to hear this news. I’m so deeply sorry for your family’s loss. Trish was an excellent friend, generous, kind, passionate, patient, dependable and very hard working. We worked together for 14 years, she was our leader and fought for us, always. As I was pregnant with my first baby, she made sure I had maternity clothes and winter coats that fit. She was always so thoughtful and sweet, and oh how she loved talking about her precious grand babies and kids, a true mother hen. She was so so proud and full of love for you all. I’ll miss you my friend. Until we meet again.

May the love and dedication she provided for your family help give you all strength in the coming days, months and years. God bless you all and please know many hearts are with you.
