Sydney

It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of “Our Family Rock”, Patricia ‘Trisha’ Marie Mombourquette, 66, of Sydney, on Sunday, August 10, 2025. Surrounded by her family, she sadly and fearlessly lost her battle to pancreatic cancer.

Trisha was the daughter of the late Alec and Mary Mombourquette. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, graduated from Holy Angel’s High School with a strong catholic faith. She was newly retired from The Cape Breton Regional Housing Authority as a Collections Officer, serving 36 years where her union activism was truly her passion.

Trisha’s whole world revolved around spending time with family, especially on Scotch Hill at her family bungalow in Margaree. She loved taking long drives with her Tim Horton’s tea in hand, collecting sea glass on her favorite shore of Dominion Beach and was always looking for heavenly signs.

Surviving are her cherished children, daughters, Laura Crawley, and Michele (Kyle) Corriveau, Fort McMurray; son, Stephen (Morgan) Romard, Halifax; her greatest pride and joy, her grandchildren, Chloe (12), Hunter (11), Jack (1), and Stevie (1).

Trisha was also survived by her brother, Paul (Colleen) Mombourquette, and her sister, Jean (Ron) Kirby, who was simply her other half. Jean’s strength and courage carried her through her toughest times and remained by her side through it all.

A quote she lived by each, and every day was “Mother’s hold their children’s hand for just a moment but will live in their hearts for a lifetime”.

Visitation for the late Patricia Mombourquette will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) from 9-10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025. Memorial Mass will be celebrated in Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier, on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment will take place Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.

Donations in memory of Patricia may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
