Sydney

With broken hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our mom, Linda Curran, nee Mugford, on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the age of 74 in Hospice Cape Breton, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Mom fought hard to the very end.

Linda was born and raised in Glace Bay, (the Hub) to the late Don and Mary (Martin) Mugford. Always a proud Bay girl she was known by her family and friends in the Bay as Tony, a nickname her father gave her when she was born.

Linda met the love of her life John when she was 18. They married and moved to Sydney where they raised three amazing children.

Linda loved to bowl, play darts and to camp and made the best memories with family and friends over the years. She also loved a good game of bingo and would always be heard yelling “shake your balls up. “

Linda loved to go out for supper and concerts with her best friend Marilyn who was always there for her and she enjoyed her Sunday suppers at her friends Mary and Brian’s place and her Sunday night visits with Annie and Jr. Your friendships meant the world to her.

Linda’s greatest joy in life was her four grandkids. Nanny adored her grandkids and was their biggest supporter in everything they did. She loved cheering on Ethan and Stephen at their baseball games and would always be found at the rink watching Maddy and Keagan play hockey. Nanny was their biggest fan.

Linda is survived by her daughter, Deanne (Greg) Corbett; sons, Troy and Michael Curran; four beautiful grandchildren, Ethan, Stephen, Maddy and Keagan; sister, Mary Gracie; brother, Norm (Clara) Mugford; sister-in-law, Annie Curran (Terry) and her brothers-in-law, Neil Ferguson and Nonnie MacDonald. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great friends.

Besides her parents Linda was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband John; siblings, Johnnie, Mike, Shirley, Diane, Don and Barbara; parents-in-law, John and Pauline Curran; sisters-in-law, Catherine, Mary, Helen and her brother-in-law, Bill.

We would like to thank Dr D’intino and the staff of Hospice Cape Breton for the kindness, care and compassion they have shown us during our mom’s final days. We can never thank you enough.
