The family of James Cuddihy regret to announce his passing on Thursday, July 24, 2025, in Sydney. He had been in poor health for several years.
Born in Sydney, James was the son of the late James and Anastasia (Corbett) Cuddihy. He was also predeceased by his sister, Patricia and brother-in-law, Greg O’Keefe.
James worked at Sydney Steel and the Tar Ponds Remediation Project. He was also a talented Autobody Repairman.
James is survived by his son, Shaun (Elizabeth MacKinnon); daughter, Ashley; grandsons, Connor, and Cian; siblings, Mary O’Keefe, Helen (Fred Warner), Tom (Ann Downie), Catherine (Len Hickey), Maureen (Ron Poirier), Walter (Elva), Theresa (Kevin Hutchings), and Madonna; as well as many nieces and nephews.
James was a peaceful man with a wicked sense of humour. He was a huge fan of classic rock and pop music. He enjoyed playing guitar and, as a teenager, was part of a band. James was a life-long supporter of the Chicago Blackhawks.
Celebrate of Life for the late James Cuddihy will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Donations in memory of James may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
