Whitney Pier

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Margaret ‘Peggy’ Elaine Margetti, announce her peaceful passing at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Saturday, June 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on March 20, 1955, Peggy was the beloved daughter of the late Dorothy (Carew) and Stan Margettie.

Peggy worked for over 30 years in various departments in multiple hospitals within Cape Breton.  She was an active member of Holy Redeemer Parish where she participated in the CWL.  Peggy loved to travel and spend time with her family, ideally, doing both at the same time.

She is survived by the love of her life, her only daughter, Lindsay (Michael Griffiths), and her fur baby, Daisy.  Also, left to mourn Peggy’s passing are her loving siblings, Phyllis, Sandra, Deborah (Michael) Snow, Carol (Joe) Lewis, Robert (Lolita), Louie (Linda) and Darren Desmond.  She is also survived by her stepmother, Marie and many nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends.

Besides her parents, Peggy was predeceased by her devoted partner, Wayne Power, and her son in-law, Jonathan McGuigan.

Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Peggy Margetti will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Sunday, July 6, 2025. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 12 noon to 2 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks at later date.

Donations in memory of Peggy may be made to the SPCA Cape Breton or a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Peggy was a kind, fun loving person. Enjoyed working with her at the City and Regional hospitals. Always had a chat and a laugh when I met her. Rest in peace dear Peggy.
