It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Scott Tompkins Skinner on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Hospice Cape Breton, Membertou.

Born on August 6, 1942, in Guysborough, Scott was the son of the late Charles and Laura (Mintus) Skinner.

Scott worked for Sydney Landscaping for many years. He enjoyed his job and worked beside his brother, Douglas every day. Scott took pride in his garden. When people passed by, they would comment on how beautiful it looked. He was always lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Scott loved to dance and was a very good cook.

Scott is survived by his siblings, Mark, Charles, and Harry (Bernice), all in Guysborough, and Douglas, Henry (Annabelle), and Edith, all in Sydney; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Scott was predeceased by his pride and joy, his son, Scottie; companion, Connie Yakemchuck, and siblings, Harley, Vernon, Shirley, Patricia, and Elaine in infancy.

Thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Palliative Care Unit and Hospice Cape Breton who attended to Scott to make him as comfortable as possible in his final days.

A special thank you to Scott’s caregiver and friend, Susie Hayward.

There will be no visitation or service at this time for the late Scott Skinner.

Donations in memory of Scott may be made to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Cape Breton or a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
