It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Donna Kennedy on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Saskatchewan, Donna was the daughter of the late Thomas and Martha (Lemoine) Campbell.
Donna’s career began with The Canadian Armed Forces as an instrumental and electrical technician. Donna then went on to the join The Canadian Coast Guard until she retired in 2019.
Donna loved to travel with her husband, their walks on Main-a-Dieu beach and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She always listened without judgement and encouraged those around her with her loving support, guidance, and never-ending patience. Her beautiful heart made people gravitate to her for comfort and advice.
Donna is survived by her loving husband, Gary Kennedy; children, Krista Kennedy-Leahy (Charity Kennedy-Leahy), Vanessa Kennedy (Sheldon Borden), Leavina Kennedy MacNeil (Stephen MacNeil) and grandchildren, Ella Kennedy, Alex Kennedy and Kya MacNeil. She is also survived by her sister, Brenda (Glen) Kennedy; brother, Wayne (Lori) Campbell and brother in-laws, Jerry (Josephine) Kennedy, Frankie Kennedy and Trevor (Brenda) Kennedy; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Donna was predeceased by her brother, Wallace Campbell and brother in-law, Reginald Kennedy.
There will be a private memorial service to celebrate the life of Donna Kennedy at a later date.
Donations in memory of Donna may be made to the Sydney Homeless Shelter, Food Bank or SPCA.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
You will be in our hearts forever and always by our side. We love you more than all the water in the sea and stars in the sky. Keep shining over us and guiding us through, until we meet again.

We are so sorry to hear about Donna’s passing. She was a lovely lady who always had a smile on her face and with a kind word for everyone.
We feel so lucky to have met you and Donna through our transplant process. You both shared many kind words and a listening ear when Brent went through a difficult time.
