Beudah started her heavenly journey Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at the age of 90. Prayer and her family kept her here probably longer than she wanted to stay.
Born October 22, 1933, at home in Yarmouth, NS to her parents, Rev. Sheldon and Agnes (Davidge) Myers, she was joined a half hour later by her twin sister, Beulah. They helped their parents in ministry throughout their youth as well as their adult life playing the piano, accordion, organ and in song. When she married Walter, together with her family, they continued to play and sing throughout the provinces as “The Chant Family” singers.
When she moved to Louisbourg, her house on Main Street was always open to those who needed a place to stay, a cup of tea, a piece of pie or fudge or just to gather to talk about the Lord. Beudah loved the Lord and her children, in that order. Her life has always been about serving her kids, her church and God. She was a prayer warrior, pioneer, and a worshiper. Her voice was beautiful and strong which she used to honour her Saviour. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, memaw and friend. She was able to see her children and grandchildren minister around the globe. She was heaven’s asset and advocate on earth and today is heaven’s gain.
There’s a land you always longed for
And hallelujah, you’ve arrived
We’ve never been so brokenhearted
But you’ve never been more alive
Left to navigate life here without her are her six children, Roger, Maynard (Janet), Rosette Legge (Bill), Sheldon (Florence), Jamie (Darlene), and Kimberly (Vince); daughter-in-law, Sherry; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; as well as her best friend, Jessie Williams.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Walter; son, Wayne; sister, Beulah, daughter-in-law, Kathryn; great-grandson, Aidan; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth, and stepson, Moyle.
Visitation for the late Beudah Chant will be held in the Hineni Church, Alexandra Street from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2024. Funeral service will take place on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. also at Hineni Church. Interment will be in Loch End Cemetery, Catalone.
For those unable to attend, Live Streaming will be available on our website.

She was a legend! Words can not describe the loss I feel. I am who I am because of her life. She was my world. As I child, there was no one I’d rather be with. My best friend. My grandmother. The only solace is that she’s with Poppy, and her most beloved, Jesus. I’m beyond thankful to have loved and been loved by her.
To the Chant family, I was so sorry to learn of the passing of my dear friend. The “Twins” were such a large part of my formative years. This friendship shared between us developed to a relationship that was more like sisters. Although distance kept us from seeing each other in the later years, our closeness never changed. Until we meet again Beudah, keep singing.
I never had the honor or privilege of meeting Beudah. She was a true matriarch and an amazing representative of our Lord Jesus Christ. Loved by many, many people especially her family. Keep singing those songs with your loved ones that you are now present with. God Bless & kisses.
Dear ones, we are keeping you all in our prayers. She was one in a million and all of us who had the privilege of knowing her were truly honoured in our lifetime. There will never be another like dear Sister Beudah. Prayers and love to you all. Ray and Rosalind.

Sending Condolences Sheldon and Family for the passing of your mother. May your happy memories bring you comfort.
To the Chant family, I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ll never forget Mrs Chant’s smile. She truly epitomized the verse in Nehemiah, that speaks about the joy of the Lord being our strength. I fondly remember times I’d see her at the Sydney Shopping Centre, and I’d say “Hi Mrs Chant,” and give her a hug and a kiss. Thank you Sheldon for sharing with your mom, that I’m attending Journey Church. It warms my heart to know, she was pleased with my choice of church. Although I’m sad Mrs Chant is gone, I’m comforted in knowing that she’s now celebrating with Jesus in her new glorified body, which Paul speaks about in Philippians 3:21. I look forward to the day that I’ll see her again in Heaven.
Condolences to the Chant family on the passing of your dear mother. She was certainly a well respected lady. Her faith will live on in each and every one of her children. RIP Mrs.Chant
Sending condolences to all the Chant family. I remember your Mom and Dad when I was just a child attending church. Driving back and forth from Louisbourgh twice on Sundays for morning service then evening service. Their dedication to God was so obvious. I can still hear your Mom singing one of my favourite gospel songs(supper time). A true woman of God.
Dear Pastor Sheldon, Rosetta and all the family:
My heart and prayers go out to you all in the graduating to Glory of your Mom. Even though now singing with the angels, loosing our Mom’s always leave such an empty place in our hearts while we are still here on earth.
